Interpretive planning for the
Heart of Chesapeake Country Visitor Center

The Heart of Chesapeake Country Heritage Region Visitor Center at Sailwinds Park, Cambridge, MD needed an interpretative plan for both the interior and exterior of its distinctive visitor center in a riverfront park on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Working with the existing management plan, the Riverhill team developed a interior exhibition outline and preliminary designs and designs for a series of interpretive stations that lead visitors throughout the park and out into the county for further exploration of the heritage region’s beauty and historic past.

Riverhill implemented our plans for the lower level interpretive exhibition, which opened in May, 2008. Designed by Collin Harty and Doreen DeNicola, the exhibit provides a lively introduction to this county's rich heritage and sense of place.
